On January 6, the twins of Carmina Villarroel and Zoren Legaspi officially turned 18. They celebrated their 18th birthday with a Hollywood-themed party at One Canvas Events Place in Makati City on January 12, Saturday night. Present on the celebration was a few numbers of friends and family members. But in spite their age, the twins still homies and enjoy spending time with their parents at home.
In an exclusive interview with PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal), the Kapuso stars revealed the changes that will take place and their thoughts about entering a new chapter of their lives.
"I didn't feel any pressure, but I felt sentimental. When I was a kid, I was really looking forward to turning 18, and being an adult," Mavy said.
"When we were about to turn 18, our parents were telling us, 'This is how it's going to be. You don't have to change, but some things are going to change. You're going to have more decisions to make,'" he added, sharing the lesson he learned from his parents.
Cassy chimed in saying:
"So if there is any pressure, it's with the decisions we have to make. College is on the way. We also have to think about our personal goals and our future in showbiz as well. I don't like to think about what's going to happen in the future. I just take it day by day."
While some go through a difficult time with their parents when they turned 18, Cassy and Mavy are thankful that there are no drastic changes at all in their household.
"They reminded us that being 18 is just a number. I'm sure, we're going to make more mature decisions, but we still have to be disciplined. I love that they're guiding us every step of the way. We will always need their support," Mavy said.
"It's the way they talk to us now. We sit down, and have a mature conversation. Sometimes, they make us realize our mistakes by ourselves. It's more chill, and we're more open with one another."
But the twins still homebodies and prefer to spend time with their parents at home.
"To be honest, as much as we like to go out with our friends, our family has developed this kind of relationship wherein we really love to bond with each other. It's natural for us to just stay home and just do things together, like watching a movie," Mavy said.
"Even if the curfew has adjusted, the time with the family hasn't changed at all. In fact, we developed a deeper bond now that we're 18," he added.
When asked if their mom and dad are strict, Cassy answered:
"Now, they're stricter with our sleep because we're working, and we're also students, so for them, it's very important for us to have good sleep."
Aside from pursuing their showbiz careers, they also make sure to maintain their good academic standing on their last year in senior high school at the Reedley International School.
