Netizen Lambasted BPI For Insisting Her To Pay Php204,000 Bill Due To Card Fraud


Famous banks in the Philippines like BDO and BPI are getting involved in several controversies and issues about unauthorized withdrawals on member's accounts and credit card fraud. Many bank members reported and sharing to social media their experiences in hopes that they could retrieve any loses but no avail. Some are even blamed that it's their fault.

Recently, one Facebook user named Kristen Camille Martinez took to Facebook her disappointment and anger against the Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) for insisting that she should pay Php204,000 worth of transactions using her credit card.

Attached to her post is the history of the alleged unauthorized transactions from Lazada Philippines, worth Php11,000 each until it reaches the credit limit.

She immediately reported the incident to BPI and filed a dispute. But she only received a letter saying "I may have unknowingly shared the information which led to my online account being compromised."

After then, she didn't receive any replies though she appealed on BPI. Until the law office sent her a letter demanding that she should pay the total of P238,000 to BPI to cover these online transactions plus interest.

“Sa totoo lang hindi ako sobrang nasstress sa babayaran, dahil kahit anong gawin nyong paniningil at kahit lumaki pa ng lumaki interest nyan, hindi ko yan isesettle,” she then wrote.

“Mas bothered ako kung papano ihandle ng employees nyo yung ganitong cases. Simpleng acknowledgement ng email mo from the concerned unit, wala!!! Mga walang sense of urgency.”

She also complained of the poor response of the customer service especially in times like this.

“Ikaw ang tatanungin ko, kung na hack yang credit card mo, babayaran mo yang P238,000.00 na yan kahit alam mong hndi ikaw ang may kasalanan?,” Martinez said. “The best answer na narinig ko from a customer service rep, “babayaran ko po kasi po kasalanan ko naman po dahil hindi ko po na safe guard yung account ko kaya na compromise.”

We can't blame if she took the issue to Facebook because the amount is very big, considering that she has a family and she is obliged to pay what she didn't buy.
