For most of us who didn’t know, mineral bottle caps are removed in some venues merely for safety reasons. They can be used as a missile when the bottle is full with the cap on. Some people use this to throw at the stage and among the crowd which can cause injuries. Bottles that have the caps on represent more of a trip hazard. The effect of throwing bottles with the cap on is more severe than without it. Some of us are not new to this kind of senseless act for it is rampant in concerts and gigs too. Removing the bottle caps before handing it to the customers is a policy in some establishments and food stalls, but not all customers know the purpose of it. Araneta Coliseum have this policy also..
In any business, especially in the food service industry, angry customers are not that uncommon. Some customers have this sense of entitlement thinking that they can mistreat service crews just because they're "customers". They have this I-am-a-customer-so-I'm-always-right mentality. Just like what happened to a Pizza Hut stall in Araneta Coliseum.
The story is posted by a Facebook user named Olin Ovlac. Here’s how the story goes...
Here's a photo taken by Olin where you can see the crew, crying but still serving other customers. Who will not pity the poor crew? She's defenseless.
Olin also uploaded a short video of what happened in Araneta.
The video shows that they threw the pizza (that they bought) on the floor.
You can even see the angry mother pointing her finger, cursing and saying hurtful words against the crew.
Here's when the daughter came in rescue of her parents. In the video, you can even hear the daughter yelling,"Ang kapal ng mukha mo! Ikaw ang mali, ikaw pa ang may ganang magalit?" and "Bakit ka nagtataas ng boses hindi mo ba alam late na kami?" when in fact she's the one raising her voice.
The father is also pointing his finger to the poor crew. You can hear the crew explaining her side to her angry customers. You can sense that she's just fighting her tears.
Before finally walking out, you can even hear the daughter saying,"Nanggigigil ako!!" The mother even has the audacity to shout,"GAGA!" to the crew.
Imagine three people yelling, cursing and pointing their finger at you? You really can't help but cry.
So, in a few words, the customer's got mad because the crew removed the bottle cap and they thought that the crew made fun of them when they thought that she's also selling the popcorn beside their stall. That very simple matter led into such incident. The crew just did what she thinks is right and who can blame her? It's their store's policy. We should always be considerate and understanding when it comes to matters like this.
We should always respect everyone, in this case, the people in the food service industry just because we’re the customers doesn’t mean we’re always right. Let's stop this kind of mentality. They may have shortcomings but so do we.
